Despite its hidden location on a small peninsular just west of the Tamiami Trail, Buccaneer Bay in Sarasota is a most desirable neighborhood. If you are looking for the perfect combination of nature, waterfront views and seclusion, you should strongly consider this unique community.
Originally developed in the 1980s, Buccaneer Bay is a collection of 42 waterfront homes, many of them custom-built mansions with private docks, fishing piers, and swimming pools that overlook the Little Sarasota Bay and Siesta Key. Mature oak trees with large canopies and plenty of Florida nature give this neighborhood privacy and a secluded ambiance, and since a few properties sit on elevated ground, some homeowners do not have to worry about flood insurance.
Most of the homes in Buccaneer Bay are spectacular, million-dollar waterfront estates. This is not a cookie-cutter neighborhood; the architectural designs include Mediterranean, Modern and Tuscan, and there are a few older Florida ranch-style homes. Half-acre lots are the norm, and most properties offer at least 2,000 square feet of interior. In 2019, the prices of three available listings ranged between $825K and $3.8 million.
At Buccaneer Bay, boating and fishing enthusiasts love being able to reach the Sarasota Bay and the Gulf of Mexico in just a few minutes and without having to navigate under bridges. This neighborhood is also ideal for active retirees who wish to live close to parks, golf courses and the beach. The Stickney Point bridge, which provides easy access to Siesta Key Beach, is less than five minutes away. As for shopping and entertainment, the Tamiami Trail offers many options, and a large Publix supermarket at the Sarasota Pavilion shopping center is located a few blocks to the north.
