Over the last couple of decades, the Venice housing market has become very competitive, and this is largely to the benefit of prospective home buyers looking for real estate opportunities within gated communities. Venetia is a residential development project undertaken by two Canadian home builders a few years before the downturn of the market in 2008.
Venetia is located to the southwest of the Venice East golf course; this is a low density section with just a few subdivisions and gated communities; most of the land is taken up by greenbelt spaces, lakes, nature preserves, and golf courses. Compared to the busy tourism section of Venice Island, this part of town is quieter and more family-friendly.
Venetia is split into four neighborhood sections: Venetia One is where you can find the larger single-family residences. Villa Paradiso and Villa Vivaci offer paired villas, and Casa D’Amici is a condominium section. This diversity of housing options has attracted homeowners from all walks of life; you can find families, retirees, single professionals, and a few seasonal residents.
The layout of Venetia gives residents plenty of backyard space; quite a few homes enjoy lake views, and the landscape design include thoughtful details such as planters and waterfalls. Many homes have been improved with nice upgrades such as hurricane windows, electric shutters, covered lanais with outdoor carpeting, and more. The developers were inspired by the architectural style of the Historic Downtown District in Venice, so the homes of Venetia feature a nice combination of Spanish Colonial and Mediterranean design.
Life at Venetia is not only maintenance-free but also entertaining. In addition to a swimming pool with a clubhouse and fitness center, residents also have access to basketball courts, green areas for picnics, and tennis courts. In September 2020, a three-bedroom home with two full bathrooms and 2,245 square feet of interior was listed for $478K. Pricing largely depends on the size of the floor plan and proximity to lakes in the neighborhood.
Venetia neighbors do not have to travel far for shopping; a Walmart Supercenter and a Publix supermarket are just a couple of minutes to the west. Caspersen Beach is just 15 minutes away, but a better option for families is Manasota Key Beach, which is about 20 minutes southwest.
