Venetian Falls in Venice : 55+ Neighborhood w/ Homes for Sale

Even though Venice has always attracted retirees, seasonal residents, and senior citizens, it was not until 2012 when a gated community opened solely for homeowners aged 55 and older. These days, you can find more senior communities that try to compete with Venetian Falls, but most real estate agents will tell you that this is still one of the most attractive options for retirees.

Venetian Falls in Venice  is located in the northern end of the Plantation district, not far from the west side of the Myakka River State Park. National home builder Centex Homes started off construction with the waterfalls that flank the boulevard entrance just north of Center Road. The sparkling falls and manicured landscaping make Venetian Falls one of the most attractive gated communities in Venice.

One of the reasons Venetian Falls has retained its status as a premier Florida retirement community is that it offers a resort-like atmosphere. If you are looking for an active lifestyle in your golden years, you can certainly find it here. The swimming pool area includes a clubhouse plus a fitness center and a lounge where a full-time activities director puts together events such as bingo, Zumba classes, a book club, gourmet coffee tastings, ballroom dancing and more. There are also trips to the beach and to MLB games with the Tampa Bay Rays and the Atlanta Braves, a team that spends spring training just down the road at CoolToday Park.

While you can always become a member at nearby golf courses such as the Venice and Plantation country clubs, Venetian Falls also has a nine-hole putting green for residents and their guests. You have a choice of driving 25 minutes west to Venice Beach or to Caspersen Beach; the latter is not as crowded and more family-friendly. For shopping, a Walmart Supercenter is less than two miles away.

Venetian Falls offers both villas and single-family residences. A three-bedroom home with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and 1,916 square feet of interior was listed in September 2020 for $324K, which is about the median home price across Venice. New listings are not posted very frequently, and they usually sell very fast.
