In Southwest Florida, development of resort-style neighborhoods dates back to the 1970s, and it continues to get better. Virtually every home in IslandWalk offers water views thanks to a network of interconnected ponds and canals.

The IslandWalk Town Center and the various neighborhood amenities take up 10 acres of land. In recent years, the outdoor event stage has featured weekly live music performances by cover bands who play everything from Shania Twain to The Beatles. The swimming pool and fitness center are among the most elaborate in the Venice region, and there are also courts for playing basketball, tennis, bocce ball, and pickle ball. Miles of walking trails and bridges that resemble a boardwalk run along lakes and canals. It is not a stretch to say that IslandWalk provides the most resort-like amenities of all gated communities in Southwest Florida.

The West Villages shopping center, a commercial district anchored by a new Publix supermarket, connects to IslandWalk by means of a private road, which also provides easy access to CoolToday Park, the spring training facility of the Atlanta Braves. When you want to enjoy a day at the beach, driving west towards south Venice and Manasota Key will take you about 20 minutes.
