Golden Beach in Venice : Prime Location Homes for Sale

Golden Beach in Venice

Owning a property right in front of the beach is a dream shared by many home buyers. In Venice, you will not find as many beachfront homes as in other parts of Sarasota County because of zoning restrictions along the coast. Unlike the larger beach sections of Siesta Key, which allow for a mix of commercial and residential zoning, most of Venice Public Beach has been set aside for tourism and recreation, thus making neighborhoods such as Golden Beach in Venice unique and highly desirable.

Golden Beach is located just north of the Deertown Gully and west of Harbor Drive, just a beach stroll south from the legendary Sharky’s on the Pier restaurant. Development of this neighborhood dates back to the 1950s, when a few spots in Sarasota County were offered to World War II veterans. Many of the properties here are owned by real estate investors who take advantage of high demand in the vacation rental market, and this is an enticing opportunity because it is not unusual for homes to be listed for sale at less than $470K.

Deeded beach access is the most attractive selling that Golden Beach offers. The beach itself is public, but not many visitors venture past Sharky’s because of signs indicating that this is a nesting spot for sea turtles; besides, they would have to cross a mangrove bayou. The beach itself is pristine and features a combination of white and golden sands along with plenty of shells and shark teeth. This is a prime spot for snorkelers and scuba divers to enter the water, but they cannot do so from the private access points that include gazebos with picnic tables.

Being able to enjoy spectacular Gulf of Mexico sunsets is reason enough to invest in a Golden Beach property today, but you should also consider the neighborhood’s prime location. The Tamiami Trail is close enough for a bike ride, and this is where you will find the only shopping center in Venice Island. The beachfront Brohard Paw Park for dogs is just south of the neighborhood, and the more family-friendly Caspersen Beach is about a mile away.
