Located in the southern section of the Venice Gardens district, the Jacaranda West Golf & Country Club in Venice is a well-established community that can easily be described as one of the best places to live in Southwest Florida. Shortly after this golf community was completed in the 1960s, it became known as Venice’s executive neighborhood because some of its wealthy seasonal residents used to land their private jets at the nearby municipal airport a weekend of tennis, golf, and trips to the beach.
Despite being a fairly large community with more than 900 housing units, Jacaranda West does not usually feature more than a handful of available listings at any given time; this can be explained by the continuously strong demand for the reasonably priced condos, villas, and single-family residences you can find here. Listings do not stay very long on the market, particularly if they have extras such as lake views or private swimming pools.
Depending on the level of remodeling and customization Jacaranda West homes have received over the years, you can expect to find listings priced around the median home value of Venice. Two-bedroom condos in low-rise buildings can be listed for less than $180K. If you prefer more space and private amenities, a 2,000 square feet home with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a covered swimming pool overlooking a nature preserve was listed for $392K in late 2020; this is a property with remodeled flooring and solar panels.
Many of the homeowners in Jacaranda West take advantage of the golf and tennis memberships, which also grant access to the clubhouse, the snack bar, and the dining facility. Even if you don’t opt for a country club membership, you still have nearby attractions such as the Venice YMCA, which is just a few minutes north, and Woodmere Park to the south. Caspersen Beach, one of the most pristine stretches of coastline in Sarasota County, is less than five miles away, and there is a dog-friendly beach on the way there. With regard to shopping and dining, you will find supermarkets, convenience stores, and restaurants along Center Road, which is on the northern boundary of the community.
