Palmer Oaks is a good example of what continues to make Palmer Ranch one of the most desirable places to live in Southwest Florida. When national home builder D.R. Horton began developing this gated community in 2006, not many neighborhoods in Palmer Ranch combined single-family homes with condos to offer a complete maintenance-free lifestyle experience, and this quickly became a major selling point.
Compared to other Palmer Ranch communities, Palmer Oaks is not a large neighborhood, but it makes great use of space to accommodate residential villas, single-family homes, green areas, a swimming pool with an outdoor lounge, and a few ponds. Construction was finalized in 2016, which means that some properties are still under builder’s warranty.
The look and feel of Palmer Oaks can be described as cozy and stylish. D.R. Horton has received many Parade of Homes awards in Florida, and this can be seen in the attractive home models inspired by Mediterranean and American Coastal styles of architecture. In June 2022, listings of two-bedroom villas with two bathrooms and 1,500 square feet of interior started around $380K. Three-bedroom homes with two bathrooms and two-car garages are usually listed for less than $585K. The property values at Palmer Oaks have appreciated faster than other Palmer Ranch communities, and this has a lot to do with nearby commercial development.
In the years since Palmer Oaks was completed, the commercial corridor at Clark Road and Honore Avenue has greatly expanded to include suburban comforts such as the new Publix supermarket on Northridge Road, which can be easily accessed from the rear gate of the community. There is also a Walmart Neighborhood Market in the Palmer Crossing shopping center on the east side of Honore Avenue, where you can find cafes, restaurants, clinics, and assorted shops. On the other side of Clark Road, the Livingston’s Amusement Center is a favorite among local families, and you also have the beaches of Siesta Key less than 30 minutes away.
