The Palma Sola district of west Bradenton is rich with pristine Florida nature, archeological history and charming neighborhoods that fully deserve to be described as hidden gems. For many people who drive from Downtown Bradenton to Holmes Beach and Anna Maria Island, Palma Sola is mostly a causeway park and a nature preserve, but once you head north on Desoto Memorial Highway from Manatee Avenue, you get to discover charming neighborhoods such as Shaw’s Point.
Originally developed between the 1960s and the 1970s, Shaw’s Point is an established Manatee County subdivision located next to the De Soto National Memorial and its archeological district. Also nearby are the Robinson Preserve and Bishop Point, which means that this neighborhood is perfect for boaters, fishing enthusiasts, and lovers of the outdoors. A few properties are stately waterfront mansions complete with private docking space, but the predominant architectural style is the Florida ranch.
Many of the property owners in Shaw’s Point settled here after checking out the Anna Maria Island housing market, which has become quite expensive and filled with traffic as well as deed restrictions. You do not have to worry about heavy traffic or restrictions in this intimate subdivision; in fact, you can keep your boat parked in the driveway and cover a short distance to public launch points without running into any traffic.
All properties in Shaw’s Point have been remodeled, improved, and upgraded over the years; some homeowners acquired surrounding lots in order to make their Florida ranches more spacious and attractive. This is one of the few Southwest Florida communities where you can find million dollar Florida ranches complete with swimming pools overlooking the Manatee River, summer kitchens, docking space, and much more. In June 2022, a split level Florida ranch with seven bedrooms and six bathrooms was listed for $1.5 million; this is the kind of opportunity that smart real estate investors can easily capitalize on. Shaw’s Point is perfect for seasonal residents and highly profitable Airbnb rentals.
With Homes Beach and Anna Maria Island just a few minutes away, this pleasant subdivision offers even more location convenience thanks to the Beachway Plaza shopping center and Publix supermarket being less than a mile away to the south. Driving to Downtown Bradenton takes about 15 minutes.
